The Abbeyfield Oxford Society
Introduction
The Abbeyfield Oxford Society is an independent company and charity and is not owned by a parent company. Furthermore, it does not have shareholders – it is simply a charity that puts the needs of older people first. We are affiliated with The Abbeyfield Society and in March 2022 we were awarded the Abbeyfield Quality Standard.
A fulfilling life is one that nourishes an individual’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. It’s these needs that guide and shape the support and care that Abbeyfield provides.
As well as providing comfortable, safe and homely accommodation, Abbeyfield fosters an environment to stimulate the mind, provide support, and offer companionship to the residents.
The Local Community
The philosophy of Abbeyfield is to involve local people. Abbeyfield Oxford is run by a Board of voluntary trustees who live around the Oxford area.
There is a House Manager, Administrator and several General House Assistants who assist with the day-to-day running of the home. Many other local volunteers also provide support to the residents.
We rely greatly on the time and support given generously by our local volunteer supporters, and have close relationships with local health practices, churches, and all that Oxford offers. Most of our residents join because of their own or family ties with the Oxford area, or simply because they love our beautiful city.
