to make an email enquiry or telephone 01865 790439.
Cath will be pleased to answer any questions you may have about the House and how to make an application. She is available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9-2pm: there is an answerphone for when she is out of the office.
Selection process The Society follows a defined Selection Procedure which allows prospective residents to ensure they feel what Brian Lewis House is right for them and enables the Society to check we can provide an adequate level of support.
The first step in the process is for a potential resident – together possibly with a family member or friend – to come and make a personal visit to Brian Lewis House and have a look round.
The second step is to complete an Application Form. This includes a Medical Form, which will be passed to our medical adviser, who will give his opinion as to whether or not Brian Lewis would be an appropriate place for the resident to live.
Assuming a positive medical opinion is received, we will then invite you to complete a trial visit of at least two nights and three days, so you have a chance to experience more fully what it is like to live at Brian Lewis House.
Within 10 days of this visit, the Society will confirm whether or not it is able to offer you a room. The decision is taken by the Society’s Board of Trustees, in consultation with staff and existing residents. If you wish to accept our offer, you will then be asked to sign an occupancy agreement, and we can then arrange a date for your move.
The Abbeyfield Oxford Society has an Allocations and Lettings Policy which is publicly available, upon request from the Administrator.
We recommend and request that all new residents have a sponsor, friend or relative who can give support and advice during this important period.
Financial considerations A financial assessment does not play a part in the selection process, but we will discuss our residency charges with you and how you plan to meet them. If necessary, we can offer advice on benefits and provide information and help needed to make a claim. The current charges, which are subject to annual review, are available from the administrator by calling 01865 790439.
