Rowan Williams appointed Abbeyfield patron, interview

His first interview since leaving Lambeth Palace appears in today’s Times.  He criticises the “grudging quality” of most discussions on the ageing population “as if it’s manifestly a terrible thing”, when really everyone will benefit. He voiced concern that so many care workers were paid the minimum wage of only £6.31 an hour.

“On that sort of salary you have to have three jobs to make ends meet, and rushing from one to the other is disastrous,” he said.
