Abbeyfield Core Standard
In November 2015, staff, volunteers and residents at Brian Lewis House were delighted to hear that the Abbeyfield Oxford Society had been awarded the Abbeyfield Core Standard – click Certificate 2015 to view it.
In order to achieve the award, we had to demonstrate that the house is managed to the standards set by Abbeyfield nationally based on legislation and best practice across all our activities including services to residents, managing staff and volunteers, financial management and care of the premises.
Communication is a key theme running through the process and the assessor interviewed residents, staff and Trustees to check that everyone has the information that they need. The assessor gave us a very positive report and complimented us on the warm and friendly atmosphere in the House. All that hard work was worth it: the moderator commented (we) “are extremely impressed by the work which has been carried out by both the assessor and the society, both in its detail and for the quality which has been self-evident and which has been highlighted in the validation report.”
The Trustees welcomed the award which enables us to demonstrate to residents, prospective residents and their families that we meet externally-recognised standards and provide a happy and safe home for our residents.
