Abbeyfield Oxford Society Annual Garden Party and Sixtieth Year Celebration

On Saturday June 15th 2019, we held our annual Garden Party, this year we also celebrated our sixtieth anniversary.
Proceedings were opened by the society’s Chairman Jim Heywood, who thanked residents, visitors and friends for joining us in our celebration and explained a little about the history of the society. The Abbeyfield Prayer was then read by St Clements Church Lay Minister Theresa Gray.
Elizabeth Parker who is the daughter of Abbeyfield founder Richard Carr – Gomm gave us an extraordinary and fascinating insight into her father and how the Abbeyfield organisation began.
Guests were then invited to enjoy the party which included a plant stall, tombola, treasure hunt, raffle and an amazing international foods buffet. Musical entertainment was provided by Steven and Ulrik and was very well received.
Although the weather began a little unsettled, eventually the sun came out and guests were able to go out and enjoy our beautiful garden.

We are very grateful to all who attended and to all who helped on the day for contributing to such a special event.
